We started by listening.
Why We Started
"I built a service that worked — but couldn't reach the people who needed it most."
As a physician, I saw burnout everywhere. Teachers leaving classrooms. Nurses considering career changes. Social workers feeling overwhelmed and unsupported.
We've seen the exodus. We've felt the loss. And we knew that traditional approaches weren't reaching the scale needed to address this crisis.
The Distillate was born from the belief that we could combine technology with human wisdom to create something that could help millions — while remaining deeply personal to each individual.
The Pivot That Changed Everything
Our original model provided direct financial aid to caregivers in crisis. But we quickly realized that money alone wasn't solving the problem.
The breakthrough came when we realized we could use AI to solve a human problem.
Instead of one-size-fits-all solutions, we built a system that could assess each person's unique situation and connect them with tailored resources — from mental health support to financial planning to career counseling.
This pivot transformed us from a charity into a scalable support system that could help millions without losing the personal touch that caregivers deserve.
Where We Are Today
Our AI doesn't replace human connection — it enhances it. Every assessment uses advanced algorithms to identify patterns and needs, but every recommendation is reviewed by real people who understand the complexity of caregiver burnout.
We believe technology should amplify empathy, not replace it.
Every caregiver's story is different. Our assessment looks beyond simple checkboxes to understand your work, your stressors, your support system, and what's weighing on you right now. We combine validated burnout measures with real-life context so your next steps are tailored to you—not a generic label.
